Trumpeter’s 1/350 scale model of HMS Repulse offers a detailed replica of the British Renown-class battlecruiser, known for her speed, elegance and tragic wartime fate. Originally commissioned during the First World War, Repulse was heavily modernised between the wars and served extensively in fleet operations. She was tragically lost in 1941 alongside HMS Prince of Wales during a Japanese air attack off the coast of Malaya, marking a turning point in naval warfare.

This large-scale kit includes a waterline plate, finely moulded parts and intricate deck fittings. At 692mm in length and 89.6mm in beam, the model captures the battlecruiser’s refined lines and distinctive layout, making it an ideal centrepiece for any WWII naval collection.

History

HMS Repulse was a Renown-class battlecruiser commissioned in 1916 and modernised extensively in the interwar period. Fast and well-armed, she served with distinction during fleet actions, royal tours and wartime patrols. Assigned to Force Z alongside HMS Prince of Wales, Repulse was deployed to the Far East to deter Japanese expansion.

On 10 December 1941, both ships were sunk by Japanese aircraft off the coast of Malaya, marking one of the first major naval losses to air power and underscoring the vulnerability of capital ships without air cover. The loss shocked the British public and military alike. Trumpeter’s detailed model commemorates this historic ship and her place in Royal Navy history.
