Vallejo Squidmar Colour Blackwood 243 – 18ml
Vallejo Squidmar Colour Blackwood (74.243) is an 18ml model paint from the Squidmar Colour range. Named Blackwood and identified as colour 243, it offers miniature painters a wood-inspired colour option for figures, equipment and scenery.
Wooden details appear throughout miniature painting, from the equipment carried by individual figures to the buildings and furnishings found in tabletop scenery. Blackwood is a colour to consider when planning darker wood-coloured elements within a model’s overall painting scheme.
Blackwood for Miniature Figures and Equipment
Many miniature figures feature wooden accessories alongside their clothing, armour and other equipment. Weapon shafts, staffs, tool handles and similar components are common examples of details where a wood-inspired colour can be used.
Blackwood is particularly relevant to fantasy and historical miniature projects featuring wooden equipment. Its distinctive name makes it easy to identify when selecting colours for these parts of a figure.
Miniature accessories can also include crates, shields, containers and other objects with wooden elements. A colour such as Blackwood can be incorporated wherever a darker wood appearance suits the intended design.
Wooden Scenery and Terrain Details
Buildings and terrain pieces often contain numerous wooden surfaces. Doors, window frames, fencing, beams and furniture are examples of scenery details where wood-coloured paint may be appropriate.
Blackwood can be considered for miniature structures featuring dark wooden components, including timber buildings, gates, bridges and decorative fittings.
For tabletop scenery, using the same chosen colour across related wooden elements can help maintain a consistent appearance. This is particularly useful when painting several pieces of furniture or architectural details intended to form part of the same setting.
Scale modelling projects may also feature wooden equipment, interior fittings and accessories where a wood-inspired colour is required.
