Victrix Plastic Model Figures

Persian Unarmoured Archers (28mm) VXA041

This 28mm hard plastic set from Victrix features 30 highly detailed Persian Unarmoured Archers, ideal for forming the backbone of any Achaemenid army. Whether fielded as part of the Early or Late Persian Empire, these archers are essential for softening enemy formations or acting as mobile skirmishers. They can be positioned behind sparas for defensive fire or used to harass advancing forces with volleys of arrows.

The set includes 24 archer figures and 6 command figures with optional parts to create officers, standard bearers, and musicians. Multiple head, arm, and weapon combinations allow for a wide variety of poses and unit configurations. Sparas (large wicker shields), spare arrows, and additional accessories are included for added realism and tactical versatility. This set pairs well with shield and quiver transfers available from LittleBigMenStudios for additional visual detail.

Suitable for battles against Greeks, Macedonians, Scythians, Ancient Indians, or even rival Persian factions during internal conflicts, these archers are a flexible and historically rich addition to any ancient army.

History:

The Achaemenid Persian Empire, one of the largest empires of the ancient world, relied heavily on archers to support its vast and diverse armies. Persian archers were known for their agility, discipline, and rapid rate of fire. Often positioned behind rows of sparas—large wicker shields—they could maintain a steady barrage of arrows while remaining protected. Archers played a crucial role in Persian engagements against Greek hoplites, Macedonian phalanxes, Scythian horsemen, and Indian war elephants. Even during internal power struggles and civil wars, archery remained a core element of Persian battlefield doctrine. This Victrix set captures the look and feel of these troops with exceptional sculpting and battlefield flexibility.
