Historical Background:

The Scammell Pioneer R100 was a purpose-built artillery tractor used by the British Army to haul medium and heavy guns, notably the 7.2-inch howitzer featured in this kit. With its 6×4 drive, robust chassis, and powerful winch, it was designed for use over difficult terrain and poor roads. The 7.2″ howitzer, developed in the interwar period, was a high-calibre artillery piece capable of delivering heavy shellfire over long distances. These combinations were widely used during the North African campaign, Italian front, and in Northwest Europe following D-Day. Together, they form one of the most recognisable British artillery setups of WWII.
