This 1/35 scale 4-in-1 kit from Thunder Model captures the robust and versatile US Army Armoured Tractor used during World War II for towing artillery, trailers, and performing engineering support duties. Based on the earlier SIXTY-type tractor but fully armoured for battlefield use, this vehicle was adapted to suit a variety of roles, and this kit provides multiple configuration options including armoured cabs, winches, and air defence mounts.

Historical Background:

The Armoured Tractor was a wartime development of earlier industrial crawler tractors, fitted with armour to protect crews during towing and recovery operations under fire. Used throughout the Second World War, particularly by artillery and logistics units, these vehicles were deployed in North Africa, Europe, and the Pacific. Their primary role included towing artillery pieces such as the 155mm Long Tom gun and heavy trailers. Some units were additionally fitted with machine gun mounts for anti-aircraft defence or convoy protection, and their proven reliability made them a core support asset for US forces.
