History:

The American Civil War (18611865) was one of the most significant conflicts of the 19th century, pitting Union forces against the Confederacy in a struggle over unity, sovereignty, and slavery. Infantry made up the bulk of both armies, fighting in dense formations with rifled muskets, bayonets, and artillery support. Uniforms varied widely, especially among Confederate units, with Union troops typically wearing blue and Confederates grey or butternut. Battles were marked by intense frontal assaults, trench warfare, and large-scale manoeuvres across a vast and varied landscape. This set captures the appearance and spirit of the common foot soldier on both sides of the conflict, offering versatility for building full regiments or skirmish forces in this defining period of American history.
