History:
Mounted men-at-arms were the elite shock troops of late medieval Europe, serving as the heavy cavalry for kings, nobles, and mercenary captains. Between 1450 and 1500, these warriors fought in conflicts such as the Wars of the Roses, the Burgundian Wars, and early Italian campaigns, where the nature of warfare was beginning to shift. Clad in full plate armour and mounted on powerful destriersoften also armouredmen-at-arms wielded lances, swords, and maces to devastating effect. Despite the rise of pike formations and gunpowder weapons, they remained a symbol of prestige and battlefield dominance.
