History:

British light dragoons served as the primary light cavalry force in the early Napoleonic Wars, operating across Spain, Portugal, and later at Waterloo. Between 1808 and 1815, these regiments were equipped for rapid manoeuvres, reconnaissance, and flanking attacks. Initially wearing distinctive crested helmets and blue jackets with white piping, many later adopted shakos and uniforms more closely aligned with the evolving British cavalry style. The light dragoons played a vital role in the Peninsular campaign, often clashing with French cavalry and screening the movement of infantry columns. Their adaptability and discipline made them invaluable to Wellingtons army. This set reflects the evolution and battlefield presence of British light cavalry during one of the most transformative periods in military history.
