Academy Hyundai Pony 2 Pickup 1/24 Plastic Model Kit

Build a distinctive vehicle from Hyundai’s early years with this Academy 1/24 Hyundai Pony 2 Pickup plastic model kit. Introduced in 1982, the Pony 2 Pickup was the commercial variant of Hyundai’s second-generation Pony range, combining practical load-carrying ability with the compact dimensions of a passenger car.

The Pony 2 Pickup retained rear-wheel drive and Mitsubishi-sourced mechanical components. It belonged to the wider Pony family, South Korea’s first mass-produced and exported motor car. The Pony was developed under the direction of former British Leyland Austin-Morris Division managing director George Turnbull and styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Today, the Pony 2 Pickup is a rarely seen survivor from Hyundai’s formative years as a vehicle manufacturer.

Multi-Colour 1/24 Scale Kit

This 1/24 scale plastic kit is moulded using MCP multi-colour parts, providing a realistic finish without the need to paint every component. Paint can still be used as part of the finishing process, and the kit requires glue for assembly.

The multi-colour moulding makes this an interesting representation of the Hyundai Pony 2 Pickup while retaining the traditional assembly and finishing experience of a plastic scale model kit. Its civilian pickup subject also offers something different for modellers interested in passenger and commercial vehicles from the early 1980s.

The kit includes both stickers and decals for completing the model. The box is the Korean edition, with the Pony 2 Pickup description, while the supplied instructions are presented in both Korean and English.

Academy 15626 recreates the Hyundai Pony 2 Pickup at 1/24 scale, capturing a commercial variant of Hyundai’s second-generation Pony range.
