Academy Plastic Model Kit

German Panzer III Ausf L “Battle of Kursk” (1/35) 13545

The Academy 1/35 scale Panzer III Ausf L kit reproduces the late-war development of Germany’s medium tank during the critical battles of the Eastern Front. This detailed model includes finely moulded parts, detachable side skirts, and a 5cm KwK 39 L/60 main gun. Link and length track sections enhance realism, while modellers can choose to assemble the hatches open or closed. With seven different marking options, the kit covers vehicles from both 1942 and the Battle of Kursk in 1943.

  • 1/35 scale plastic model kit
  • German Panzer III Ausf L variant
  • Detachable side skirts included
  • 5cm KwK 39 L/60 main gun with MGs
  • Link & length track system for detail and ease
  • Choice of seven Eastern Front markings (1942–43)
  • Optional open or closed hatches

History

The Panzer III was originally developed as Germany’s primary medium tank for armoured divisions, intended to engage enemy armour while the Panzer IV supported with a larger-calibre gun. By 1942, the Ausf L represented an improved version with enhanced armour and the long-barrelled 5cm KwK 39 L/60, allowing it to remain competitive against Soviet T-34s. Additional side skirts offered increased protection against anti-tank rifles and shaped charges. The type saw heavy use during the campaigns of 1942 and was deployed in large numbers at the Battle of Kursk in July 1943, one of history’s largest tank battles. Though soon overshadowed by heavier German tanks like the Panther and Tiger, the Panzer III Ausf L remained an important part of Panzer formations during this period and exemplified the evolution of German armoured warfare.

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
