History

Operation Frequent Wind, carried out on 29–30 April 1975, marked the largest helicopter evacuation in history. As North Vietnamese forces closed in on Saigon, USMC CH-53D helicopters played a crucial role in airlifting thousands of American citizens, South Vietnamese allies, and at-risk personnel from the city. Flying continuous missions from the US Embassy and other key sites, these helicopters transported evacuees to US Navy ships waiting offshore. The CH-53D, with its heavy-lift capacity and reliability, proved indispensable in the operation, symbolising the end of US involvement in the Vietnam War. The mission remains a defining moment in both military aviation and Cold War history.

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
