History:
Commissioned in 1977, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) is the second of the Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. Named after the 34th President of the United States, she has played a vital role in projecting American naval power worldwide. Eisenhower has participated in operations ranging from the Cold War to the Gulf War, and more recent Middle Eastern deployments. With her capacity to carry over 90 aircraft, she remains a formidable asset in the U.S. Navy’s fleet and a central figure in carrier strike group operations.
