History
HMS Nelson was built for the Royal Navy following the First World War and entered service in 1927. Along with her sister ship HMS Rodney, she featured an unusual design with all main guns positioned forward of the superstructure.
During the Second World War, HMS Nelson took part in several major operations, including convoy escort duties, Mediterranean operations, and support for Allied landings. She also survived damage from mines and enemy attacks during her career.
The ship became well known for her service throughout the war and represented an important part of British naval strength during the conflict.
In 1945, HMS Nelson was present during the formal Japanese surrender ceremonies in Singapore, marking the end of the war in the Pacific for British forces.
