Airfix Junkers Ju87 R-2/B-2 Stuka 1/48 Model Kit

Build one of the most recognisable German aircraft of the Second World War with the Airfix Junkers Ju87 R-2/B-2 Stuka in 1/48 scale. Junkers Ju87 Stuka Dive-Bomber

The Junkers Ju87 first flew in 1935 and was developed specifically for precision dive-bombing. The name Stuka comes from the German word “Sturzkampfflugzeug”, meaning dive-bomber. Powered by a single V-12 Junkers Jumo engine, the aircraft carried a two-man crew consisting of a pilot and rear gunner.

The Ju87 could carry up to 1,800kg of bombs and was armed with up to four machine guns. Its automatic pull-up dive brakes allowed the aircraft to make steep diving attacks before recovering, while the undercarriage-mounted Jericho-Trompete siren became closely associated with the sound of Stuka attacks.

R-2 and B-2 Variants

The Ju87 B-2 became the most widely produced early variant and saw extensive service during the opening campaigns of the Second World War. The R-2 was developed for longer-range operations, particularly anti-shipping missions, using additional fuel capacity and underwing drop tanks to extend its operational range.
