Burnt Jet Engine Pigment for Model Weathering
AK Interactive Burnt Jet Engine Pigment (35ml) AK2041 is an ultrafine modelling powder created to reproduce the appearance of burnt and heat-stressed jet engine surfaces. It provides a dedicated colour for adding these effects to model aircraft and vehicle components as part of a detailed weathering finish.
This product belongs to AK Interactive’s collection of frequently used pigment colours. The pigments in the series can be mixed with one another, allowing different colours to be combined where the intended effect requires variation. Their fine consistency supports precise placement on detailed model surfaces.
The 35ml container holds nearly three times the quantity offered by other leading pigment brands. The pigment can be used either dry or wet, giving modellers a choice of application method based on the appearance they want to achieve.
Dry pigment application
Apply the pigment dry when a natural, dusted effect is required. Dry application allows the powder to be positioned directly on the intended area and adjusted before it is secured. Once the desired result has been created, the dry pigment can be fixed in place with either Pigment Fixer or White Spirit.
This method is suitable when the goal is to retain the loose, powder-like character of the pigment during the initial stages of application. Fixing it afterwards helps preserve the completed placement on the model.
Wet pigment application
For wet application, mix Burnt Jet Engine Pigment with Pigment Fixer or White Spirit before placing it on the model. Applying the pigment wet provides an alternative way to control the burnt and heat-stressed effect. The choice between wet and dry use depends on the intended finish and the modeller’s preferred working method.
