Ammo LOCK ‘N LOAD – Weathering Technical Pencil A.MIG-8313
Using a mechanical pencil for weathering offers several benefits. It provides precise control, allowing detailed and accurate applications for effects such as scratches, chipping, and panel lines. The tip can be customised to suit specific techniques, enabling both fine and broad strokes. Its compact, refillable design saves space and makes it convenient for transport, whether you’re working at home or on the go. Lastly, its versatility shines through in its ability to create a wide variety of weathering effects, from shadows and highlights to imitating wear and tear, making it an excellent tool for enhancing scale models with professional results.
Includes one Gun Metal lead as a gift; this colour is used to imitate polished metal areas.
The back of the pencil features a built-in sharpener, allowing you to sharpen each colour easily. You can also use coarse sandpaper, which is faster and will enable you to adapt the tip to each technique and effect applied.
The application is straightforward and intuitive. Draw the effect and blend it with a brush dampened with water, or wet the lead tip beforehand to apply the effect directly, then adjust it with a damp brush. If you’re unsatisfied with the result, it can be easily removed with water.
For optimal results, we recommend using the leads on a matte surface for better grip. They can be applied as final weathering effects, but if you plan to layer additional “wet” weathering techniques with water or thinners on top, protect your work with a thin layer of varnish.
These watercolours are perfect for beginners, who will appreciate their ease of use and cleaning, as well as for experienced modellers seeking to explore the extensive creative possibilities offered by the LOCK ‘N LOAD system. The colours are odourless and non-toxic, making them safe for use at home, even around children and pets, without requiring special ventilation or protective measures.
