Arma Hobby Plastic Model Kit

Arma Hobby Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/WGr.21 (1/72) 70084

The Arma Hobby Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/WGr.21 is a highly detailed 1/72 scale model kit of one of the most unusual combat variants of the world’s first operational jet fighter. Based on Arma Hobby’s award-winning Me 262 A-1a tooling, this special edition includes finely produced 3D-printed Werfer-Granate 21 rocket launchers, allowing modellers to recreate a rare late-war interceptor developed to attack Allied heavy bomber formations.

The kit combines precision injection-moulded plastic parts with high-quality photo-etched details and 3D-printed components to achieve exceptional levels of realism. Also included are canopy and wheel masks, a comprehensive decal sheet with two historical Luftwaffe aircraft and a free download code for a 3D-printable cockpit interior for those wishing to further enhance their model.

The WGr.21 rocket launchers are accurately reproduced with dedicated mounting parts and represent one of the Luftwaffe’s attempts to improve the effectiveness of Me 262 attacks against tightly packed bomber streams. These distinctive under-fuselage launchers give the aircraft a unique appearance that stands out from standard Me 262 fighter variants.

Two authentic marking options are supplied for aircraft of Stabsstaffel/JG 7 based at Rechlin during February 1945, including “Green 1“, flown while Major Gerhard Stamp commanded the unit, and “Green 3“. The combination of advanced tooling, multimedia parts and historical accuracy makes this kit an excellent choice for Luftwaffe enthusiasts and experienced aircraft modellers.

History

The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world’s first operational jet fighter and represented a revolutionary advance in military aviation during WWII. Capable of speeds exceeding 850km/h, it could outrun almost every Allied piston-engined fighter. During the final months of the war, Jagdgeschwader 7 “Nowotny” became the first operational jet fighter wing, using the Me 262 to intercept American bomber formations. One experimental development saw the aircraft equipped with 21cm Werfer-Granate 21 rockets mounted beneath the forward fuselage. These powerful rockets were intended to disrupt tightly packed bomber formations before the fighter closed in with its 30mm cannon armament. Although produced only in limited numbers, the WGr.21-equipped Me 262 remains one of the most distinctive variants of Germany’s pioneering jet fighter.
