Fokker DR.1 Triplane – Ltn Hans Weiss (1/48) AA38312

This 1/48 scale die-cast model from Corgi depicts the distinctive white Fokker Dr.1 545/17 flown by Leutnant Hans Weiss of Jasta 11, part of the elite Jagdgeschwader 1. On 21st April 1918, Weiss took off from Cappy Aerodrome alongside his commander, Manfred von Richthofen, for what would become the Red Baron’s final flight. Although Weiss’s aircraft sustained damage in the ensuing dogfight, he successfully returned to base, while von Richthofen did not.

Hans Weiss earned a reputation as a skilled balloon-buster, credited with ten aerial victories by spring 1918. During the clash over Le Hamel that claimed the Red Baron’s life, his own aircraft was struck, severing the rudder cables, forcing him to break off and land safely. Tragically, just weeks later, Weiss himself was shot down and killed by Canadian ace Merrill Taylor. This Corgi model honours his service, capturing both his distinctive aircraft and his role in one of the most legendary air battles of the First World War.
