Copper State Models Nieuport 11 Late (1/32) CSM32014

The Copper State Models Nieuport 11 Late (1/32) is a meticulously detailed plastic model kit representing one of the most iconic Allied fighters of the First World War. Known as the ‘Bébé’ due to its compact size, the Nieuport 11 played a crucial role in regaining air superiority during the early part of 1916, countering the ‘Fokker Scourge’ with agility and speed. This late production variant features refined detailing and historically accurate modifications seen in later service aircraft.

  • Accurate late-production Nieuport 11 features
  • Highly detailed cockpit and airframe components
  • Fine surface textures and precise moulding
  • Decal options for multiple historically documented aircraft
  • Clear assembly instructions for an enjoyable build

This kit offers modellers the opportunity to recreate a significant WWI fighter with exceptional fidelity, making it ideal for display or as part of a larger diorama. Copper State Models ensures each component is produced to the highest standards, resulting in a satisfying and historically authentic build experience.

History

Introduced in early 1916, the Nieuport 11 was a French-designed biplane that became a symbol of Allied resilience in the skies over the Western Front. Its sesquiplane configuration, with a larger upper wing and smaller lower wing, reduced drag and improved manoeuvrability, giving pilots an advantage in dogfights. Equipped with a single Lewis machine gun mounted above the top wing, the Nieuport 11 allowed pilots to fire over the propeller arc without the need for synchronisation gear. The aircraft served with several Allied air services, including the French, Italian, Belgian, and Russian forces, and was widely admired for its handling and effectiveness. The late production variant incorporated structural improvements and minor design tweaks to enhance performance and durability. Today, the Nieuport 11 remains a favourite among aviation historians and modellers for its graceful lines and important role in WWI aviation history.
