The Russian “Rb” Armoured Car, also known as the Russo-Balt 1914, was one of the earliest armoured vehicles deployed by the Imperial Russian Army during World War I. Based on the Russo-Balt Type C chassis, it was adapted with protective armour plating and a machine gun turret to provide mobile firepower across the Eastern Front. History:
The Russo-Balt 1914 armoured car was designed to meet the growing need for protected mobility during the First World War. Featuring a fully enclosed fighting compartment and a 7.62mm machine gun, it served effectively in reconnaissance, patrol, and support roles. Despite limitations in speed and armour thickness, it provided the Russian Army with a significant advantage in mobility and protection during the early years of mechanised warfare. Today, it remains an important symbol of the dawn of armoured vehicle development.
