History
The Royal Flying Corps relied heavily on skilled mechanics to keep aircraft operational during World War I. Ground crews frequently manoeuvred aircraft by hand, lifting and turning tails to position them for take-off, maintenance, or hangar storage. This physically demanding task was a routine part of airfield operations, especially in the era before powered towing vehicles. Including such figures in a diorama adds realism and narrative depth, showcasing the teamwork and manual effort that supported frontline aviation.
