History: The Battle of Arnhem formed a key part of Operation Market Garden in September 1944, an ambitious Allied attempt to secure a series of bridges and open a rapid route into Germany. German Panzergrenadier units played a significant role in containing and counterattacking Allied airborne forces around Arnhem. Often fighting in urban areas and improvised defensive positions, these infantry units combined mobility with firepower, operating alongside armoured formations in a series of hard fought engagements that ultimately halted the Allied advance.
