Dragon Plastic Model Kit

Panzerjager IB mit 7.5cm StuK 40 L/48 with Gun Crew (1/35) 6781

The Panzerjager I was Germany’s first mass-produced tank destroyer, adapting the chassis of the Panzer I to carry heavier anti-tank weapons. Dragon’s 1/35 scale kit takes this concept a step further by equipping the vehicle with the formidable 7.5cm StuK 40 L/48 gun, creating a unique and imaginative take on an upgraded tank hunter. This detailed kit also includes a set of gun crew figures, adding realism and depth to any diorama setting.

  • 1/35 scale plastic model kit of the Panzerjager I armed with a 7.5cm StuK 40 L/48
  • Highly detailed parts with authentic surface textures
  • Includes crew figures for dynamic display options
  • Photo-etched components add extra realism
  • Decals provided for historically inspired marking options

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History:

The Panzerjager I was introduced in 1940 as a response to the German Army’s need for more effective anti-tank capability. Built by mounting captured Czech 4.7cm anti-tank guns onto surplus Panzer I chassis, it became the Wehrmacht’s first dedicated tank destroyer. These vehicles served in the early campaigns of World War II, including France, North Africa, and the Eastern Front, but their limited armour and firepower quickly became obsolete as Allied tanks grew stronger. Dragon’s kit imagines an upgraded version fitted with the later 7.5cm StuK 40 L/48 gun, a weapon used on the StuG III and Panzer IV. While this variant was never fielded historically, it represents a fascinating “what-if” scenario, showcasing how the lightweight Panzer I chassis might have been adapted to extend its service life against increasingly powerful enemy armour.
