History

The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet entered service during the 1980s as a replacement for several older carrier-based aircraft types. Designed from the outset as a true multirole platform, it combined air-to-air combat capability with precision strike performance. The Hornet proved highly successful and participated in numerous military operations around the world, including the Gulf War, operations over the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The F/A-18C variant became one of the most widely operated versions of the aircraft and served as the backbone of United States Navy and Marine Corps tactical aviation for many years. Although gradually replaced by the newer Super Hornet, the original Hornet remains an iconic aircraft whose combination of agility, versatility and carrier capability secured its place in aviation history.

This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
