History

The Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II entered service during the 1960s as a dedicated light attack aircraft for the United States Navy before later being adopted by the U.S. Air Force as the A-7D. Designed around advanced navigation and weapons delivery systems, the Corsair II could deliver conventional and precision-guided weapons with remarkable accuracy while carrying a substantial payload over long distances. It served extensively during the Vietnam War and continued in frontline service throughout the Cold War, later taking part in Operation Desert Storm before being replaced by newer strike aircraft. Its outstanding reliability and combat effectiveness made the A-7 one of the most respected attack aircraft of its generation.
