History

The Hughes AH-64 Apache, later produced by McDonnell Douglas and now Boeing, entered United States Army service in 1986 as a dedicated attack helicopter designed to defeat enemy armour and support ground forces. Equipped with a 30mm M230 Chain Gun, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 rockets, the Apache combines heavy firepower with advanced night-fighting and target acquisition systems. It has seen extensive combat service in conflicts including the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan and numerous international operations. Continually upgraded over the decades, the Apache remains one of the world’s leading attack helicopters and serves with armed forces across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
