Hasegawa 1/72 B-239 Buffalo Finnish Air Force Aces

This Hasegawa 1/72 scale twin-kit set recreates B-239 Buffalo aircraft associated with three Finnish Air Force ace pilots. Two aircraft can be assembled from the set, with supplied marking choices for Eino Luukkanen, Eino Ilmari Juutilainen and Hans Wind.

The three marking options represent aircraft from the 24th Fighter Squadron during 1942 and 1943. This gives the modeller a choice of individual aircraft and pilots while the two-kit format allows two of the supplied options to be built and displayed together.

Finnish Air Force Ace Markings

One option represents Major Eino Luukkanen, Squadron Commander of the 1st Squadron, 24th Fighter Squadron. His aircraft is “White 7: BW-393”, represented in November 1942. Luukkanen’s final score is listed as 56.

A second option represents Sergeant Eino Ilmari Juutilainen of the 3rd Squadron, 24th Fighter Squadron. His aircraft is “Orange 4: BW-364”, represented in March 1942. Juutilainen’s final score is listed as 94.

The third option depicts Lieutenant Hans Wind of the 1st Squadron, 24th Fighter Squadron, flying “White 7: BW-393” in January 1943. Wind’s final score is listed as 75.
