Hasegawa 1/72 XD-01 Dragonar 1

This Hasegawa 1/72 scale kit recreates XD-01 Dragonar 1, piloted by Kaine Wakaba in the TV anime “Metal Armour Dragonar”. Based on design drawings by Kunio Okawara, the kit combines 386 parts with extensive articulation, multi-colour construction and a comprehensive selection of armament.

No glue is required for assembly. Parts are moulded in eight colours: white, red, blue, yellow, grey, black, clear yellow and clear green. The stripes on the shins are reproduced through the coloured parts, while the head camera eyes can be built using either clear yellow or yellow parts. Decals are also included for detailed markings.

Extensive Articulation

Numerous poly parts are used throughout the movable joints. The shoulder joints can move forwards, allowing Dragonar 1 to hold the 75 mm LPS9 hand railgun with both arms. The joints between the ankles and shins use a mechanism incorporating sliding movement to provide a wide range of motion.

The lower rear nozzle and its cover are also movable, allowing them to be displayed in either deployed or stored positions. Five wrist options are included, comprising left and right gripping hands with articulated fingers, open hands with articulated fingers and a right hand designed for holding weapons.

The range of weapons and movable joints gives the completed model plenty of posing possibilities, from two-handed railgun poses to configurations using the swords, knives or shield.

Model Specifications

The completed XD-01 Dragonar 1 measures approximately 268 mm high and 138 mm wide. With 386 parts, multiple weapon options, detailed decals and eight colours of moulded parts, this 1/72 plastic kit provides a substantial recreation of Kaine Wakaba’s Dragonar 1, with articulation designed to support a variety of distinctive armed and unarmed poses.
