History

The General Dynamics, later Lockheed Martin, F-16 Fighting Falcon first entered service in the late 1970s and has become one of the most successful multirole fighter aircraft ever built. The F-16CJ variant was developed primarily for the Suppression of Enemy Air Defences (SEAD) mission, equipped with advanced avionics and capable of carrying AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles. Aircraft based at Misawa Air Base in northern Japan have played an important role in maintaining regional security and supporting United States Air Force operations throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Combining exceptional manoeuvrability with advanced weapons systems, the F-16CJ remains an important frontline combat aircraft today.
