Hasegawa Plastic Model Kit

Hasegawa EA-18G Growler (1/72) HAE38

The Hasegawa EA-18G Growler is a highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit of the United States Navy’s advanced airborne electronic warfare aircraft. Based on the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the EA-18G is designed to suppress enemy air defences using sophisticated electronic attack systems, radar jamming equipment and anti-radiation missiles.

This edition includes newly tooled parts to accurately reproduce the modern Block II configuration, including the chimney duct upper fuselage, AN/ALQ-99 tactical jammer pods, AN/ALQ-218(V)2 electronic surveillance pods, AGM-88E AARGM anti-radiation missiles and additional antenna fairings. Hasegawa’s renowned tooling provides finely engraved panel lines, a detailed tandem cockpit and excellent fit throughout the build.

The decal sheet supplies markings for two operational U.S. Navy squadrons, including VAQ-132 “Scorpions” aircraft NL540 from 2010 and VAQ-129 “Vikings” aircraft NJ550 from 2008. The combination of specialised electronic warfare equipment and authentic squadron markings makes this an outstanding addition to any collection of modern naval aircraft.

History

The Boeing EA-18G Growler entered service with the United States Navy in 2009 as the successor to the EA-6B Prowler. Developed from the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the Growler combines advanced electronic attack capabilities with the performance of a modern carrier-based fighter. Equipped with AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming pods, AN/ALQ-218 electronic surveillance systems and AGM-88 anti-radiation missiles, it is capable of locating, jamming and destroying enemy radar and air defence networks while protecting friendly aircraft during combat operations. The EA-18G continues to serve as the U.S. Navy’s primary airborne electronic warfare platform and is also operated by the Royal Australian Air Force.

Glue and paints are sold separately.
