Hasegawa IJN Destroyer Nowaki 1/350 Model Kit

Recreate the Imperial Japanese Navy destroyer Nowaki as she appeared during the Battle of the Philippine Sea with this 1/350 scale plastic model kit from Hasegawa. Nowaki was the 15th ship of the Kagero class, and this release represents her June 1944 configuration.

The kit also includes alternative marking options for the sister ships Hamakaze and Tanikaze. This choice of three historically identified schemes allows the finished model to represent a Battle of the Philippine Sea destroyer or Tanikaze during an earlier transport-unit assignment.

Three IJN Destroyer Marking Options

Decals provide a choice of markings for three Kagero-class destroyers and two different periods:

• Nowaki during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, June 1944
• Hamakaze during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, June 1944
• Tanikaze, Cho-1 Transport Unit, September 1943

The Nowaki and Hamakaze options share the Battle of the Philippine Sea setting, while the Tanikaze scheme offers an alternative 1943 subject. Each option keeps the project focused on an identified Imperial Japanese Navy destroyer and a clearly defined wartime configuration.

A Substantial 1/350 Scale Ship Model

At 347.5mm long and 33mm wide when complete, this destroyer provides an elongated naval subject in a display-friendly format. The 1/350 scale also makes it a natural companion to other 1/350 scale ship kits.

The narrow beam and extended hull give the finished model the distinctive proportions of a destroyer, while the three marking choices provide flexibility when deciding which vessel and date to represent.
