Hasegawa Plastic Model Kit

Hasegawa MiG-25 Foxbat (1/72) HAD04

The Hasegawa MiG-25 Foxbat is a highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit of one of the most formidable interceptor aircraft of the Cold War. Designed to fly at extreme speeds and altitudes, the MiG-25 became an iconic symbol of Soviet air power and was capable of intercepting high-flying reconnaissance aircraft and strategic bombers.

Hasegawa faithfully recreates the Foxbat’s imposing twin-engine airframe with finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit, realistic landing gear and sharply moulded external features. The aircraft’s large air intakes, broad wings and powerful engines are accurately represented, while Hasegawa’s renowned engineering provides excellent fit and crisp moulding quality throughout the build.

The finished model makes an impressive addition to any collection of Cold War military aircraft. Its distinctive shape and characteristic Soviet camouflage or natural metal finishes provide excellent opportunities for realistic painting and weathering techniques.

History

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 Foxbat entered Soviet service in 1970 as a high-speed interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft developed to counter emerging American strategic bombers and reconnaissance aircraft such as the SR-71 Blackbird. Constructed largely from stainless steel to withstand the heat generated by sustained high-speed flight, the MiG-25 could exceed Mach 2.8 and operate at altitudes above 80,000 feet. Although initially feared in the West for its apparent manoeuvrability, the Foxbat’s true strengths lay in its incredible speed, climb rate and long-range interception capability. It served with numerous air forces around the world and remains one of the fastest combat aircraft ever built.

Glue and paints are sold separately.
