History
The Jaguar XJR-8 was developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) for the 1987 World Sports Prototype Championship, succeeding the highly successful XJR-6. Powered by Jaguar’s powerful 7.0-litre V12 engine, the XJR-8 combined exceptional straight-line speed with advanced aerodynamics to compete against Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Sauber in the fiercely competitive Group C category. The Le Mans specification featured revised aerodynamic components to improve high-speed stability during endurance events. The XJR-8 helped Jaguar re-establish itself as a major force in international sports car racing and paved the way for the marque’s famous Le Mans victories in the years that followed.
