ICM Plastic Model Kit

ICM ‘Doctor on Call’ 1918 Model T with 4 Figures (1/35) 35829

The ICM ‘Doctor on Call’ 1918 Model T with 4 Figures is a detailed 1/35 scale plastic model kit based around a rural medical visit in early 20th-century America. The set contains a 1918 Model T Doctor’s Coupe, one doctor figure and three farmer figures, providing all the main elements needed to create a self-contained civilian scene.

The Model T features the enclosed, high-roof body associated with the Doctor’s Coupe, a version valued by physicians for the protection it offered from rain, snow and strong winds. The figures are supplied with finely detailed period clothing and accessories. They can be arranged to depict the doctor attending a farming family and a woman preparing to leave for further medical treatment.

Containing 98 vehicle parts and 36 figure parts, the kit comprises 134 components in total. Decals provide licence plates from various US states, allowing the location and appearance of the finished car to be varied. The combination of vehicle and figures makes the set suitable for a standalone vignette or a larger rural display.

History

The Ford Model T became a defining symbol of early 20th-century motoring and was the first automobile to be produced on a truly mass-market scale. By 1914, it accounted for 56% of cars manufactured in the United States. Its simple construction, reliability and relatively high ground clearance made it well suited to rural roads, which were often deeply rutted, muddy or damaged by poor weather.

The enclosed Model T Coupe later became informally known as the “Doctor’s Coupe” because it was widely used by physicians. Its closed cabin offered better protection than an open roadster, enabling doctors to travel in difficult conditions and reach isolated farms more quickly than had been possible by horse-drawn carriage. For rural communities, the car became an important form of practical medical transport.

Glue and paints are sold separately.
