History

In modern warfare, drones have become indispensable tools for reconnaissance, strikes, and psychological impact. Ukrainian forces, facing the daily threat of kamikaze drones, have developed innovative tactics to counter them. Among the most effective are mobile “Drone Hunter” fire groups, small units operating from light vehicles armed with heavy machine guns, automatic cannons, or man-portable air defence systems. These groups provide rapid response against enemy drones targeting rear areas, where traditional air defence coverage is limited. The Humvee M1097A2, rugged and versatile, has been widely used as a platform for these operations. Crewed by soldiers equipped with heavy weapons and advanced optics, these improvised yet effective units highlight the adaptability and resilience of modern armed forces in confronting the evolving challenges of drone warfare.
