ICM Plastic Model Kit

Festive Dinner On The Front Line (U.S. WWII G7117 Kitchen Truck, Figures & Accessories) (1/35)

This 1/35 scale Festive Dinner On The Front Line set from ICM recreates a rare and human moment from World War II, a U.S. Army field kitchen preparing hot meals close to the front. The kit centres around a G7117-based kitchen truck and a full group of figures, allowing you to build a complete slice of daily military life rather than a combat scene.

The box includes four U.S. Army cooks, three infantrymen, a driver, and a fully equipped kitchen truck, along with stoves, utensils, and accessories. M-1937 field ovens can be built with doors open or closed, and the truck interior is configured to represent a mobile cooking station, complete with external bench seating used to support kitchen equipment.

  • 1/35 scale plastic model kit
  • U.S. WWII G7117 kitchen truck
  • Eight figures total, four cooks, three infantrymen, and one driver

History

Hot meals on the front line played a vital role in maintaining morale and combat readiness. During WWII, U.S. Army field kitchens relied on M-1937 liquid-fuel ovens capable of frying, roasting, stewing, and even baking. These stoves were often installed in modified trucks known as kitchen trucks, allowing cooks to prepare food close to combat units.

Kitchen trucks featured extended canvas frames so cooks could stand upright while working, and standard bench seats were repositioned outside the vehicle to hold cookware and supplies. Army cooks worked hard to provide soldiers with hot meals at least twice a day, usually simple but calorie-rich food designed to keep troops moving.

Whenever possible, special occasions were marked with better fare, sometimes even roasted turkey, offering soldiers a brief sense of normality amid harsh conditions. This kit captures that quieter side of wartime life, showing the importance of logistics, care, and shared meals in sustaining fighting forces.
