Italeri Plastic Model Kit

Bugatti Coupé Napoleon (1/24)

This Italeri 1/24 scale kit recreates one of the most extraordinary cars ever built: the Bugatti Type 41 “Royale” Coupé Napoleon. The model captures the imposing proportions and refined lines of Ettore Bugatti’s personal car, the first Royale produced and a unique design noted for its elegant two-tone black and blue bodywork. At 24.5 cm long when completed, the model reflects the car’s monumental presence while maintaining crisp detailing suited to display.

The kit includes rubber tyres for added realism, and the moulding quality highlights the flowing curves, long bonnet and stately roofline that define the Royale’s silhouette. The interior is carefully represented, echoing the lavish materials and layout of the original vehicle. With a well-structured parts layout and clean engineering, the build offers a satisfying project for enthusiasts of classic and luxury automobiles.

History

The Bugatti Type 41 “Royale” stands as one of the most ambitious and prestigious automobiles ever created. Built between 1929 and 1933, only six examples were produced, each sharing the same chassis and record-breaking 12.7-litre engine. The Royale was intended for royalty and heads of state, though the economic realities of the era limited its customer base. Its scale, craftsmanship and engineering made it a symbol of luxury far beyond anything else available at the time.

The Coupé Napoleon was the first in chassis order and became Ettore Bugatti’s personal car, finished in a sophisticated two-tone scheme and fitted with sumptuous interior trim. Today, it remains one of the centrepieces of the Musée National de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, France, regarded as one of the crown jewels of early 20th-century automotive history.
