The Italeri Carro Armato L6/40 is a detailed 1/35 scale model kit of the principal light tank used by the Italian Regio Esercito during WWII. Compact, fast and designed primarily for reconnaissance and infantry support, the L6/40 served on several fronts where mobility was often more valuable than heavy armour.

This kit accurately reproduces the distinctive appearance of the L6/40, including its riveted hull, compact turret and characteristic running gear. The finished model measures approximately 11cm in length and includes finely moulded detail throughout. Link-and-length tracks provide a realistic appearance while remaining straightforward to assemble, and the included photo-etched fret adds extra refinement to selected exterior details.

Five marking options are provided, allowing the modeller to represent vehicles that served in different operational theatres during the war. The completed model makes an excellent addition to collections of Italian armoured vehicles or North African campaign subjects.

Designed for intermediate and experienced modellers, this kit offers an enjoyable build while faithfully representing one of Italy’s most recognisable light tanks. History

The Fiat L6/40 entered service with the Italian Army in 1941 and became the country’s primary light tank during WWII. Armed with a 20mm Breda cannon and an 8mm coaxial machine gun, it was intended for reconnaissance, security duties and infantry support rather than fighting heavily armoured opponents. The L6/40 saw service in North Africa, the Balkans and on the Eastern Front, where its mobility proved useful despite its relatively light armour. Although quickly outclassed by larger Allied and Soviet tanks, it remained an important part of Italian armoured forces throughout much of the conflict.
