The Italeri Lancia Delta Integrale Safari 16V is a highly detailed 1/12 scale model kit of one of the most successful rally cars in motorsport history. Representing the specially prepared Safari Rally version of the famous Delta Integrale, this impressive large-scale model captures the rugged appearance and competition modifications that helped the car conquer one of the toughest rally events in the world.

Derived from the road-going Lancia Delta HF 4WD, the competition version quickly established itself as a dominant force in the World Rally Championship. The Delta HF achieved multiple victories and world titles during the late 1980s, while the later Integrale variants continued this success well into the early 1990s. The Safari Rally versions were adapted specifically for the harsh African conditions, receiving strengthened suspension, upgraded shock absorbers and additional protective equipment to cope with extreme terrain and long-distance competition.

This large-scale Italeri kit features newly tooled parts and a comprehensive level of detail throughout. The front and rear bonnets can be displayed open, revealing a faithfully reproduced engine bay packed with realistic mechanical detail. The front doors are also functional, allowing a clear view of the highly detailed interior, dashboard and competition cockpit.

Further realism is provided through working suspension, an operational steering system, rubber tyres, chromed components and photo-etched details. The completed model measures approximately 335mm in length and provides an outstanding display piece for rally enthusiasts and automotive modellers alike.

History

The Lancia Delta Integrale is widely regarded as one of the greatest rally cars ever built. Following the success of the Delta HF 4WD, Lancia continued to develop the platform into the Integrale series, creating a machine that dominated the World Rally Championship. Between 1987 and 1992, the Delta secured six consecutive manufacturers’ titles and became one of the most successful competition cars in motorsport history.

Among its greatest achievements were victories in the legendary Safari Rally. Held across challenging terrain in Africa, the Safari Rally was renowned for punishing vehicles with rough tracks, extreme weather and demanding endurance stages. To compete successfully, Lancia engineers developed specialised versions of the Delta Integrale equipped with reinforced suspension systems and additional protective components. Victories in 1988 and 1989 demonstrated both the durability and performance of the car under some of the toughest rally conditions ever encountered.

Today, the Delta Integrale remains an icon of rallying and one of the most celebrated performance cars ever produced by Lancia.
