Kitty Hawk Models Plastic Model Kit

Vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplane (1/32) KH32016

The Kitty Hawk Models 1/32 scale OS2U Kingfisher offers a stunning replica of this iconic WWII naval floatplane. Used extensively by the United States Navy and Marine Corps, the OS2U Kingfisher served as a ship-based scout, artillery spotter, and air-sea rescue platform. It was one of the most widely used floatplanes of the war, operating from battleships, cruisers, and remote island outposts.

This kit captures the rugged appearance of the Kingfisher with crisp surface detail, a fully equipped cockpit, detailed engine, and options for display with floats or wheeled landing gear. The large scale allows for exceptional realism, and multiple marking options are included for historic aircraft.

  • Scale: 1/32
  • Highly detailed float and tail assemblies
  • Complete cockpit interior and rear gunner position
  • Photo-etched and clear parts included
  • Markings for several historic USN aircraft

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

Paints are shown for reference only; they may not be recommended in the manufacturer’s instructions and are to be used only as a guide. It is recommended that you conduct your own research to find the finish you want.

History:

Developed by Vought in the late 1930s, the OS2U Kingfisher became the U.S. Navy’s standard observation floatplane throughout World War II. Its primary mission was to scout ahead for naval fleets, direct naval gunfire, and rescue downed pilots. The Kingfisher could be launched via catapult from battleships and cruisers and recovered after landing on water. Though relatively slow and lightly armed, it was a versatile and reliable aircraft that operated across the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. Notably, Kingfishers played a key role in the Pacific island-hopping campaigns, assisting in rescues and intelligence gathering across vast ocean areas.
