Matho Models 1/35 Birdhouses Set

Add a varied collection of finely detailed birdhouses to your 1/35 modelling projects with this set from Matho Models. The set includes 12 unpainted pieces: 11 birdhouses in four different types, plus one feeder house. Each piece is made of high-detail, UV-cured acrylic plastic and is ready for preparation, priming, and painting.

The selection of four different birdhouse types provides useful variety when arranging the 11 birdhouses within a scene, while the separate feeder house adds another distinctive piece. The tree shown with the birdhouses is not included.

12 Detailed 3D Printed Pieces

The complete set includes 11 birdhouses and one feeder house, giving you 12 individual accessories for detailing 1/35 scenes. The parts are supplied unpainted, so you can finish them to suit your project.

Handle the UV-cured acrylic plastic carefully during preparation, as 3D-printed parts can be brittle. First, rinse the pieces in acetone to remove excess waxy support material remaining from the printing process.

Preparing the Parts for Painting

The 3D printing process builds each part in very fine layers, and some layer lines may remain slightly visible in certain areas, particularly under magnification. If needed, sand these with a medium abrasive such as 600 grit, followed by a finer abrasive such as 1000 grit. Rinse the parts in acetone again afterwards to remove sanding dust before priming and painting.

For very small or difficult areas, cut a strip of sandpaper approximately 1-2 mm wide and fold it. Grip the strip with flat-tipped tweezers so that only a tiny section of the folded edge projects beyond the tips, then carefully move this small abrasive surface over the required area.

If a hollow 3D-printed part is open underneath and the bottom will be visible in your arrangement, the opening can be filled with putty and sanded. Once the required preparation is complete, the birdhouses and feeder house are ready to be primed and painted.
