Matho Models 1/35 Jungle Plants A

Add finely detailed vegetation to your modelling projects with Matho Models Jungle Plants A. This 1/35 accessory contains one photo-etch sheet measuring 19 x 9.5 cm, etched from ultra-thin 0.10 mm brass to produce realistic leaf thickness and finely defined plant details.

The very fine etching includes leaf veins, giving the plants detailed surfaces that can be enhanced further through painting, shaping and weathering. Use the plants as ground cover or attach them as foliage to your own tree armatures, providing versatile photo-etched parts for creating detailed vegetation. Use a thin green metal wire to attach the foliage to tree armatures. Base is not included.

Ultra-Thin Photo-Etched Brass

The plants are etched from 0.10 mm brass, allowing the leaves and branches to remain thin while preserving the finely etched details. Once removed from the fret, the individual leaves and branches can be carefully bent and positioned to create natural shapes rather than remaining flat..

Painting and Shaping

Leave the plants attached to the fret during the initial painting and weathering stages. Airbrush a few layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours to dry between coats. Continue with your regular acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products, then seal the finish with a few coats of varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours before handling the plants further.

Place the fret on a hard surface, such as wood or glass, and carefully cut the plants free with a fresh knife. Any remaining fret attachment points can be cleaned with a micro file. Handle the painted parts gently throughout these stages to minimise scratching.

Use two pairs of tweezers to shape the plants, holding each piece with one pair while using the other to position the leaves and branches. Bend the leaves and branches to create a more natural appearance. Once shaped, carefully glue the plants into position. Any exposed brass caused by cutting or handling can then be touched up with the main colour using a round brush with a very fine tip.
