Create a highly detailed metal fence and gate with this Matho Models 1/35 photo-etched set. The Big Set combines three photo-etch frets containing four fence parts and one two-part gate, providing a coordinated selection of finely detailed metal fencing for your modelling project.

The combination of matching fence sections and a gate makes this a useful 1/35 detailing set when a larger run of Metal Fence B is required.

Painting and Finishing

For painting and weathering, leave the fence parts attached to the fret initially. Airbrush a few layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours of drying time between each coat. You can then continue with your regular acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products. Finish with a few coats of varnish and allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours so it is hard enough to protect the paintwork during subsequent stages.

Handle the painted fence gently to minimise scratching. Place the fret on a hard surface such as wood or glass and cut the fence parts free using a fresh knife. A micro file can be used to clean away any remaining fret attachment points, although cleanly cut straight edges may require little additional work.

After removal and handling, inspect the painted parts for areas where the photo-etched brass has become visible. These areas can be touched up using a round brush with a very fine tip and the main colour, restoring the finish before final assembly and positioning.
