Matho Models 1/35 Metal Fence A Big Set with Gate

Create a highly detailed metal fence and gate with this Matho Models 1/35 photo-etched set. The Big Set combines three highly detailed photo-etch frets containing four fence parts and one two-part gate, providing a coordinated selection of Metal Fence A components for your modelling project.

The set combines two 35015 Metal Fence Set A sets with one 35016 Metal Fence Set A – Gate. The set contains photo-etch parts only; wall sections, support columns and base are not included.

Metal Fence A Set Contents

  • 2 x 35015 Metal Fence Set A
  • 1 x 35016 Metal Fence Set A – Gate
  • 4 fence parts in total
  • 1 two-part gate
  • 3 highly detailed photo-etch frets

The combination of matching fence sections and gate offers a useful selection of photo-etched parts for assembling a larger 1/35 Metal Fence A arrangement.

Painting and Finishing

For painting and weathering, leave the fence attached to the fret initially. Airbrush a few layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours to dry between coats. Continue with your regular acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products, then seal the finish with a few coats of varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours so it is hard enough to protect the paintwork during subsequent stages.

Handle the painted fence gently to minimise scratching. Place the fret on a hard surface, such as wood or glass, and cut the fence free with a fresh knife. A micro file can be used to remove any remaining fret attachment points, although a clean cut can leave straight edges requiring little additional work.

After cutting and handling, any areas where the photo-etched brass becomes visible can be touched up with a round brush with a very fine tip and the main colour, restoring the painted finish before the fence and gate are positioned.
