Matho Models 1/35 Metal Fence Set A

Add highly detailed metal fencing to your 1/35 modelling project with Metal Fence Set A from Matho Models. This photo-etch set includes one fret with two detailed fence sections, providing a matching pair for your chosen scene.

Each fence section measures 3.5 cm wide and 4.3 cm high. The left and right edges feature bolt detail and can be bent through 90 degrees for easier attachment to a support column. A large photo-etch bending tool is recommended for the best results when forming these edges.

Compatible with Metal Fence Set A – Gate

The fence sections are compatible with Matho Models 35016 Metal Fence Set A – Gate, which is sold separately. The fence design is also available as part of Matho Models 35086 Metal Fence A – Big Set with Gate, containing four fence parts and one two-part gate.

This set contains the photo-etch fence parts only. The base and wall section are not included.

Painting and Preparing the Fence

Leave the fence sections attached to the fret during the initial painting and weathering. Airbrush several layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours to dry between coats. Once primed, continue with your chosen acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products.

Seal the painted fence with several coats of varnish and allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours. This gives the finish time to harden before you remove the parts from the fret and handle them further. Work gently during the remaining stages to minimise scratching of the painted surface.

Place the fret on a hard surface such as wood or glass and cut the fence sections free using a fresh knife. Any remaining fret attachment residue can be cleaned with a micro file, although a clean cut can reduce the need for filing along straight edges.

After cutting, bending and handling, touch up any areas where the brass has become visible. Apply your main colour with a round, very fine-tipped brush to restore the painted finish while retaining the detailed bolt features and fine photo-etched appearance of each fence section.
