Matho Models 1/35 Plants & Weeds Set 1

Create finely detailed vegetation for 1/35 scenes with Matho Models Plants & Weeds Set 1. This comprehensive set includes five photo-etch sheets, each etched from ultra-thin 0.10 mm brass to create realistic leaf thickness. Fine etched details, including leaf veins, add further definition to the finished plants.

The set combines Plants & Weeds A, B, C, D and E, providing all five individual sets.

Five Plants & Weeds Photo-Etch Sheets

The set contains Matho Models 35035 Plants & Weeds A, 35036 Plants & Weeds B, 35037 Plants & Weeds C, 35038 Plants & Weeds D and 35039 Plants & Weeds E. The plants can be used complete, or smaller branches can be removed from the main branches and used separately as ground cover or as foliage on your own tree armatures.

This flexibility allows the fine etched vegetation to be shaped and arranged according to the requirements of your 1/35 scene rather than being restricted to a single finished form.

Painting and Shaping the Plants

For painting, leave the plants attached to the fret and airbrush several layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours of drying time between coats. Continue with your chosen acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products, then seal the finish with several coats of varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours before handling the parts further.

Place the fret on a hard surface such as wood or glass and carefully cut out the plants with a fresh knife. Clean any remaining fret residue with a micro file. Handle the painted parts gently to minimise scratching.

Use two pairs of tweezers to give the leaves and branches a natural position, holding the plant with one pair while shaping it with the other. You can also bend individual leaves to create a more natural appearance. After positioning and glueing the plants, touch up any areas where handling or cutting has exposed the brass using a fine-tipped round brush and the main colour.
