Matho Models 1/35 Plastic Crates for Bottles

Add finely detailed plastic bottle crates to your 1/35 modelling projects with this set from Matho Models. The set contains two unpainted crates, printed in high-detail UV-cured acrylic plastic and ready for preparation, priming and painting.

Each crate measures approximately 1.2 cm long, 0.9 cm wide and 0.7 cm high. The pair provides compact accessories for adding bottle crate details to suitable 1/35 scenes and can be incorporated into your chosen arrangement as required.

Two Detailed 3D Printed Crates

Both crates are produced using a high-detail 3D printing process in UV-cured acrylic plastic. Their small size makes them useful for fine detailing where plastic bottle crates are part of the scene. They are supplied unpainted, so you can choose the final finish to suit your project.

Handle the parts carefully during preparation, as 3D-printed components can be brittle. First, rinse them in acetone to remove excess waxy support material left from the printing process.

Preparing the Crates for Painting

The 3D printing process builds each crate in very fine layers. Some layer lines may remain slightly visible in certain areas, particularly under magnification. If needed, sand these with a medium abrasive such as 600 grit, followed by a finer abrasive such as 1000 grit. Rinse the parts in acetone again afterwards to remove sanding dust. The crates are then ready to prime and paint.

For very small or difficult areas, cut a strip of sandpaper approximately 1-2 mm wide and fold it. Hold the folded strip with flat-tipped tweezers so that only a tiny section of the fold projects beyond the tips. Carefully move this small abrasive surface over the area being prepared. When the abrasive becomes clogged, create a fresh fold in an unused section of the strip and continue sanding.
