Matho Models 1/35 Shopping Baskets

Add finely detailed shopping baskets to your 1/35 modelling projects with this set from Matho Models. The set contains three unpainted baskets, produced in high-detail UV-cured acrylic plastic and ready for preparation, priming and painting.

Each basket measures 1.4 cm long, 1 cm wide and 0.7 cm high. A particularly useful feature is the pair of movable handles fitted to each basket. The handles don’t need to be glued in place, so you can keep them movable and display them in different positions within your scene.

Three Baskets with Movable Handles

Each of the three baskets includes two handles, giving the set six movable handles in total. Their adjustable positioning lets you vary the appearance of individual baskets while retaining the finely printed structure of the main basket. This makes them useful small-scale accessories for detailing 1/35 scenes.

Preparing the 3D Printed Parts

The UV-cured acrylic plastic can be brittle, so handle the parts carefully during preparation. First, rinse them in acetone to remove excess waxy support material left from the 3D printing process.

The printing process builds each part in very fine layers, and some layer lines may remain slightly visible, particularly under magnification. If needed, sand these with a medium abrasive such as 600 grit, followed by a finer abrasive such as 1000 grit. Rinse the parts in acetone again afterwards to remove sanding dust. The baskets are then ready to prime and paint.

For very small or difficult areas, cut a strip of sandpaper approximately 1-2 mm wide and fold it. Hold the folded strip with flat-tipped tweezers so that only a tiny part of the fold projects beyond the tips. Move this exposed folded edge over the area being sanded, creating a fresh fold in the strip when the abrasive becomes clogged.
