History
During the Second World War, the Royal Air Force used a wide range of aerial bombs for strategic bombing, close support, anti-shipping attacks, and tactical operations. These weapons varied in size and purpose depending on mission requirements and aircraft type.
British bombers such as the Lancaster, Halifax, Wellington, and Mosquito carried large numbers of high-explosive and specialised bombs during operations across Europe, North Africa, and Asia. Ground crews were responsible for preparing, transporting, and loading these weapons before missions.
Airfield scenes involving bomb trolleys, armourers, and ordnance preparation became a familiar part of wartime RAF operations. Aircraft carrying visible bomb loads remain one of the most iconic images of British military aviation during WWII.
Accessory sets such as this allow modellers to recreate the operational appearance and atmosphere of RAF airbases and bomber operations in greater detail.
