History:

The M3 Stuart light tank, named after Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart, was one of the first American armoured fighting vehicles to see widespread use in WWII. Introduced in 1941, the Stuart was praised for its speed, mechanical reliability, and ease of maintenance. The late production version featured improved armour and turret modifications, making it more effective in both reconnaissance and infantry support roles. Although lightly armed and armoured compared to enemy tanks, it served with distinction in North Africa, the Pacific, and Europe, often outmanoeuvring heavier foes through superior mobility. The M3 Stuart also saw extensive use by British and Commonwealth forces under the Lend-Lease programme, where it earned the nickname “Honey” for its smooth handling and reliability.
